Guitarist. Teacher. Arranger. Videographer.
Welcome to the website of Matthew Anderson.
As a guitarist, Matthew Anderson stays active as a soloist and chamber musician. He is a founding member of the internationally recognized Athens Guitar Duo, a regular performer with vocalists and choirs, a founding member of the Atlanta-based mixed ensemble Orchestra on the West End, and an advocate for art music written for the electric guitar.
As a teacher, Dr. Anderson is the coordinator for both the music program and the guitar area within Reinhardt University's School of Performing Arts. He is an active clinician and adjudicator within the state's budding pre-college guitar scene, and Dr. Anderson is a regular presenter at the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference every January. As a member of the Athens Guitar Duo, he has taught masterclasses through the United States, Europe, China, and Russia. Dr. Anderson co-founded and serves as a board member for the Reinhardt University Contemporary Arts Festival, and he founded and directs the Reinhardt University Honors Guitar Orchestra and Festival. He formerly served as the Director of Education and Outreach for the Atlanta Guitar Guild, and he maintains active private studios in Waleska (at Reinhardt University), at his home in Forsyth County, and online lessons via Skype. He currently serves on the board of the Forsyth County Arts Alliance.
Matthew's arrangements can be found on the recordings of the Athens Guitar Duo as well as the only CD of the duo's predecessor, the Athens Guitar Trio. He is currently developing a series of graduated arrangements and original compositions for guitar orchestra.
One of Matthew's main interests outside of guitar has always been film. As a result of this, he started getting into the production of guitar and music-related videos to showcase the work of both himself and his friends. Finding it to be an incredibly enjoyable hobby, he decided to create a business around it and start offering videography to musicians wanting set-piece videos done to showcase their talents. He is also currently working on a large-scale video series centered on Links, a set of 30 short pieces by composer Simone Fontanelli.
